ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A jazz superstar and a boxing champion have been added to a mural in upstate New York. Grammy Award winner Chuck Mangione and ex-welterweight and middleweight world champion Carmen Basilio were added to Rochester’s Little Italy Wall Mural on Sunday. The two city natives join other notable Italian Americans, including Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, former Gov. Mario Cuomo, Madonna, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and boxing legend Rocky Marciano. Mangione has released more than 30 albums. SYDNEY (AP) — NBA star Andrew Bogut has made a short but strong debut for the Sydney Kings in a pre-season match ahead of Australia’s National Basketball League season. The center, who started his NBA career with the Milwaukee Bucks and ended with the Los Angeles Lakers, played 15 minutes against the Japan national team Friday, scoring four points, claiming six rebounds and providing a match-high six assists. Detroit’s Leuer has another operation, this time on knee

DETROIT (AP) — Detroit Pistons forward Jon Leuer has had surgery after injuring his right knee during an offseason workout. The Pistons said Thursday that Leuer’s operation was Wednesday in New York, and that he was injured earlier in the week. An update on his return is expected before the start of training camp. The team says Leuer injured his medial meniscus. This wasn’t the first recent operation for the 6-foot-10 Leuer, who had left ankle surgery and was limited to eight games last season.
